Sonali Shakhapure

Sonali is a dedicated and experienced physiotherapist who qualified in 2019 and has since built a diverse portfolio across a wide range of clinical areas. Her early career included working in neurology, where she was part of multidisciplinary teams delivering hands-on and exercise-based rehabilitation for patients recovering from stroke and traumatic brain injuries. This experience laid a strong foundation in managing weakness and poor movement patterns, regardless of the cause.

Sonali has also worked extensively in women’s health physiotherapy, providing tailored care for individuals experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, pregnancy-related pain, and supporting postnatal recovery.

Driven by a passion for combining clinical knowledge with exercise science, she pursued a Master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Science at the University of Portsmouth. This further enhanced her skills and led her to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy within private practice. She has since helped many patients manage and recover from spinal and joint pain, sporting injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Her ongoing interest in women’s health has seen her support clients with dysmenorrhea and endometriosis, offering effective pain management strategies and improving overall well-being.

Sonali integrates a wide range of techniques in her treatments, including Muscle Energy Techniques (MET) and Myofascial Release (MFR), to address pain, improve mobility, and restore function.

She is also a qualified Pilates instructor, incorporating core stability and posture correction into her rehabilitation programmes.

Outside of her clinical work, Sonali enjoys reading, creative art, and travelling.

She works evenings at our Lewisham practice.
